Conventional Research Grants: For research projects relevant to solid organ transplantation.
For the 10th Year Anniversary of the Roche Organ Transplantation Research Foundation (ROTRF), the Board of Trustees has decided to specifically promote clinical research in solid organ transplantation. Please note that projects submitted to the current ROTRF grant award competition* (deadline 1 October 2008) must be clinical or use human transplant material for laboratory examinations. >>

Clinical Research Grants: For clinical research projects (e.g. projects proposing work with human clinical material, organ transplant patients, human organ preservation, human transplant pathology, and other human transplant problems) with a realistic potential for near term clinical application..
Please note that the ROTRF cannot fund interventional clinical trials and projects involving interventions that would add risk to the patient or alter patient management. However, the Trustees may consider for funding scientific studies associated with a completely separated clinical trial.

For research projects that are relevant to both type 1 diabetes and transplantation
The Roche Organ Transplantation Research Foundation (ROTRF) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) launched in 2006 a Joint ROTRF/JDRF Initiative to support projects in immunology and biology research relevant to pancreatic islet transplantation, and transplantation solutions for human type 1 diabetes. Investigators working in the fields of immunology and cell biology, gene therapy, cellular engineering, stem cell research (e.g. generation of islet/beta cell source from stem cells or other cell sources, novel interventions leading to immune tolerance) and other approaches that are relevant to both type 1 diabetes and transplantation, are strongly encouraged to apply.
